After several sessions of deliberation, made it into the water with Phil ~8am. My newly services regs blew an O-ring in the first stage last night while testing the gear, and dived today with a combination of borrow regs & hired BC. Phil almost called it on the dive site due to swell, but on closer inspection we decided the entry & exit from the steps was acceptable, if you picked your set.
Was my first dive with a back-inflated BC which wasn't such an unpleasant experience, even though I probably wouldn't choose it over my distributed inflation BC. The regs I was using had a peculiar positioning for the BC inflater, mostly because these particular ones are more commonly used on a dry suit. In any case the hose had to bend around behind my neck and was a minor annoyance, but not at all a problem.
I thought the visibility poor for the steps, probably <5m, but I'd say an expected viz for the low tide. Took the right side into the current for an easy glide back. Mostly a nudibranch dive due to the viz, fish life present was nothing uncommon. All agreed, a pretty ordinary, but relaxing, simple dive.
